Parkin Architects, 2012

Client: The Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada
Phase: Design competition
Contribution: The Principal Architect, a colleague and myself worked intensively for 3.5 weeks to complete the design proposal and produce five panels for the competition submission. I was an important member of the team throughout the design process, which involved an initial charette followed by a series of design discussions supported by sketches and quick study models . At the end, I produced the final panels, which involved all graphics work as well as assisting with the presentation drawings.

Description: Through the design of this research station, our team sought to realize a unique integration of North American design innovations whilst respecting the traditions and culture embedded in the Iqualuit lifestyle. Our design methodology utilized a highly site driven approach, whereby more advanced technologies were applied in order to simplify complex relationships, and inevitably provide a landmark that would be recognized at both the local and International scale.
